Writing Day September 2009

I had a relaxing, refreshing time, met some new friends, got some new ideas and got a lot of writing done. Here is my sample:

The Dichotomies of Life

Sun slanting through the shade of the live oaks.
Gnarled dead branches white against the sky in the midst of shiny green leaves.
Bird song greeting the morning only to be silenced by the heat of the day.
Small smooth stones amid jagged rocks.
Bitter coffee sweetened with rich cream.
The scent of sage swept away by the wind.
Stillness of soul shattered by the press of responsibility.
Wholeness fed by particularity.
