About Sacred Rocks Reserve
Sacred Rocks Reserve encompasses 4 departments:
Sacred Rocks Reserve is a 163-acre Nature's playground that provides the setting for the child within. Our understanding of what is important seems to shift when we step out of our ordinary lives and spend time in the great outdoors. The deep resting we do when we are quiet, restores us and energizes us for work ahead. From hiking and exploring the unspoiled hills, to climbing rocks, to hunting for the 500 year old grandmother oak tree, being in nature adds to our well-being in ways we are just beginning to understand. We remember old stories around campfires, we prepare simple but tasty meals, we play games and we spend time with each other and begin to know ourselves better.
An easy drive into the past, really you could stay here and experience what the pioneers of the Old West went through from the point of view of being in nature. Namely, the environment changes with the seasons; flowers pop out in the spring after rain, grasses dry up over the summer, fall brings cooler days and nights, winter brings cold, and occasional snow.
Couples and Families connect in a richer, deeper way because there are few distractions. Hours spent storytelling around the campfire, hikes or treks into the wild, cozy spaces for sleeping all set the stage for getting closer to each other.
Accessible retreat from stress – how beneficial it is to spend time in the QUIET. Sacred Rocks Reserve is off the beaten path, off the freeway, off the highway, out in the high country. The noises are more natural, and therefore, a bit surprising. The wind whispers through the ancient oaks. The chattering of many birds like woodpeckers, hawks, ravens and more, more, more. The howling of coyotes hunting. Peace of mind just happens.
Affordable and nearby escape, while many weekend retreats [cabins] are 3-8 hours away and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy, Sacred Rocks Mountain Homes are only 70 miles from San Diego and financially are in the reach of people who already own homes.
History
Formerly Outdoor World RV Park, Sacred Rocks acquired its new name in the late summer of 2008 to encompass the multiple uses of the land beyond camping for recreational vehicles.
The Reserve was named for a group of boulders (see photo at right) on the north side of the campgrounds, near the Drum Circle.

Conscientious use of natural resources
The water used is pumped from aquifers, underground lakes, 380 feet below. It is pumped to a tank and is gravity-fed to each site. All guests are encouraged to be water careful.
All branches and trees fallen down become firewood for guests [in fact, no outside firewood is allowed due to pest infestation coming from outside]
Sites are made of DG, or decomposed granite, the grains are like sand, only bigger and the color is a soft blend of white and brown and gray and shiny.
Septic tanks hold waste and guests are required to use biodegradable products in tanks.
Pool and Spa have solar blankets to both heat the water and keep the heat from dissipating at night.
Landscaping is carefully chosen to require little water after plants and trees take hold in two years or so. There is no lawn or heavy watering and a careful selection of plants showcase this high country, almost desert terrain.
Ice is made from our pure water, using an icemaker and offering bags for sale.
