The Sacred Rocks Reserve natural manzanita chaparral plant community includes many varieties of Southern California plantlife. Throughout the 163-acre terrain, there are many areas to hike, rock climb and enjoy the outdoors.
Chaparral is a semi-arid, shrub-dominated association of many varieties of hard-leafed, woody plants adapted to the summer drought and mild, wet winters of Southern California and to naturally recurring fires (1 every 30 to 150+ years). From otherworldly manzanita trees to tiny lichens, the native chaparral plantlife not only thrives in the hot, sunny days and cool nights of Sacred Rocks Reserve, but protects the land from erosion.
