Fire Circle at Sacred Rocks RV Park

We occasionally host bonfires under appropriate conditions (no wind) and use local firewood in our community Fire Circle.

Enjoy a Campfire Circle

For the Old West Harvest Fest 2008, our Fire Circle played a part in the Community Bonfire and Hotdog Roast on 25 October 2008.

From ancient days of our forbearers, the campfire circle has epitomized belonging, security, warmth, and enjoyment. We urge you to come away from your TV, electronics, invite your children. Tell stories and listen to others. Delight yourself in the dancing of the flames. Ever hypnotic, ever changing.

When your children grow, they will not think about a certain movie or program they saw while at the Reserve. They will not think about video games or personal music. They will, however, long remember the feeling they got when sitting with their family around the campfire circle. And they will remember their own sense of belonging and security and warmth and enjoyment and you.

TIPS:

  1. Notice the information about the danger of moving firewood – no outside wood allowed in the Reserve.
  2. Purchase wood at the store and it will be delivered to your site.
  3. Bring some old newspaper to start the fire.
  4. If windy, do not light up; staff will remind people of National Weather Service fire risk warnings.
  5. Never leave a fire unattended.
  6. Before retiring, let your fire die and extinguish with water or smother with sand.
  7. Bonfires and tall fires are not permitted (if you want to know why, ask any staff member).
  8. Report dangerous or unattended fires by calling the office right away.

So get a few bundles of wood from the store, get your comfy chair, and spend time here around your fire.
